Transformations into Normal Forms for Quantified Circuits

چکیده
We consider the extension of Boolean circuits to quantified Boolean circuits by adding universal and existential quantifier nodes with semantics adopted from quantified Boolean formulas (QBF). The concept allows not only prenex representations of the form ∀x1∃y1...∀xn∃yn c where c is an ordinary Boolean circuit with inputs x1, ..., xn, y1, ..., yn. We also consider more general non-prenex normal forms with quantifiers inside the circuit as in non-prenex QBF, including circuits in which an input variable may occur both free and bound. We discuss the expressive power of these classes of circuits and establish polynomialtime equivalence-preserving transformations between many of them. Additional polynomial-time transformations show that various classes of quantified circuits have the same expressive power as quantified Boolean formulas and Boolean functions represented as finite sequences of nested definitions (NBF). In particular, universal quantification can be simulated efficiently by circuits containing only existential quantifiers if overlapping scopes of variables are allowed.

Canonical forms for information-lossless finite-state logical machines
An important class of finite-state machines transforms input sequences of digits into output sequences in a way such that, after an experiment of any finite length on the machine, its input sequence may be deduced from a knowledge of the corresponding output sequence, its initial and final states, and the set of specifications for the transformations by which the machine produces output sequenc...
متن کاملOn p-semilinear transformations
In this paper, we introduce $p$-semilinear transformations for linear algebras over a field ${bf F}$ of positive characteristic $p$, discuss initially the elementary properties of $p$-semilinear transformations, make use of it to give some characterizations of linear algebras over a field ${bf F}$ of positive characteristic $p$. Moreover, we find a one-to-one correspondence between $p$-semiline...
متن کاملNORMAL FORM SOLUTION OF REDUCED ORDER OSCILLATING SYSTEMS
This paper describes a preliminary investigation into the use of normal form theory for modelling large non-linear dynamical systems. Limit cycle oscillations are determined for simple two-degree-of-freedom double pendulum systems. The double pendulum system is reduced into its centre manifold before computing normal forms. Normal forms are obtained using a period averaging method which is appl...
متن کاملOrbital Normal Forms for a family of-zero Singularity
Consider a Dynamical system x'=F(x,µ) such that its linear part has a pair of imaginary eigenvalues and one zero eigenvalue (Hopf zero singularity). Recently, the simplest normal form for this singular system has been obtained by sl(2) Lie algebra theory and the decomposition of space into three invariant subspaces. The normal form of this singular system is divided into three general cases. In...
متن کاملNormal forms and nonlinear symmetries
We present some results concerning Poincar e-Dulac normal forms of dynamical systems which are symmetric under (possibly nonlinear) Lie point transformations. We show in particular that the vector elds deening the dynamical system and the Lie symmetry can be put into a "joint normal form".
